Fellow Lovers of the Arts, Creativity, Free Expression & Making Good Things Happen –

The Tank welcomes you…and The Tank needs you.

As most of you know, The Tank has moved to a great new spot on West 45th Street — a two-stage, established venue just 3 blocks from where it all began nearly 6 years ago. It’s unbelievable that any small non-profit idea can take off like this — and for those of you who have been following the trials and tribulations, it’s especially remarkable that The Tank not only survives, but continues to grow.

Come see the new spot at our celebratory fundraiser tonight from 7-9pm. You can get tickets — or just show your support — at http://www.thetanknyc.org/?q=content/speakeasy

While our community is strong, our performances lively, and audiences expanding, these are troubled times. The New York State Council on the Arts, for example, has had to freeze grant money it already pledged to arts organizations — including $9,000 that had already been awarded our home for emerging performers and new works.

We’re hosting this fundraiser because in the middle of economic turmoil, support from our friends and our community can help us through. Our goal is to raise $9,000 next Tuesday — in increments of $50 (more if you can, less if you can’t) — and to have a good time doing it.

Come be part of “The Great Anti-Depression: A Speakeasy In Support of The Tank.” We can’t let this new Depression get us down. So we’ll have burlesque, music, film, comedy and trapeze to lift our spirits; free-flowing booze to lift your alcohol level; and good company at a great space to lift The Tank to new heights.

Tuesday, April 7th – 7-9pm
The Tank – 354 West 45th Street
between 8th & 9th Avenues

The Tank continues to provide a home for shows that don’t find other natural habitats, for conversations that want to exist outside of the commercial pressures that tend to govern New York.

Help us continue that mission.
