bna_flyerflat-2Before Never Again is a comedy about couples. It consists of five short plays, each providing a new awkward topic to enjoy. Intimate subjects, ranging from sexual curiosity at church camp, to more serious matters such as middle-aged booty dancing and erotic-jargon-phobia. Ensconced in multi-media and soundscape interplay, Before Never Again allows us to confront unavoidable issues and laugh them off for ninety minutes.

» Je Deviens DJ en 3 Jours [Nice, France]

The DJ became the icon of a generation brainwashed by an unhealthy idea according to which music comes down to press on a PLAY/PAUSE button. The way this music goes shows itself the standardization of a mass culture fueled by obsolete medias intended for lobotomized preteens.

He might be cute, french (some say still virgin), but he took it upon himself to put an end to this trickery : On the 25th of April, Je deviens dj en 3 jours will try to give a new approach of the Nintendo Gameboy : Heavy Beat, Distorted Bass and Girls dancing all over the night.

» Dr. Von Pnok [Rennes, France]

Coming straight out of an old dusty lab, Dr. Von Pnok is not your average mad doctor. Inspired by composers like Koji Kondo or Aphex Twin, the failed scientist tries to digest his influences using old music formats. Living as a recluse in his pixelized mansion, Pnok is obsessed by the art of programming chips and bending toys. Precise and unhurried, he tirelessly spends every night experimenting the science of DIY. With a unique combination of fast breakbeats and powerfull pulses, he creates a disturbed Lo-Fi music aimed to the brainfloor.

Realmyop [Bretagne, France]

The last product of the experiments of Dr. Von Pnok, Realmyop has been created by crossing the genes of a director (real) and a short-sighted guy (myop).
What do you obtain in the end ? A crazy mix of video game aesthetics and experimental audio-reactive glitches.
If you see him jumping around on stage with a wii-mote, don’t be afraid–he is not dangerous. He won’t bite if he asks you to come closer and control the visuals or play with his flashing toys.

The Great Anti-Depression is Tonight!

Fellow Lovers of the Arts, Creativity, Free Expression & Making Good Things Happen –

The Tank welcomes you…and The Tank needs you.

As most of you know, The Tank has moved to a great new spot on West 45th Street — a two-stage, established venue just 3 blocks from where it all began nearly 6 years ago. It’s unbelievable that any small non-profit idea can take off like this — and for those of you who have been following the trials and tribulations, it’s especially remarkable that The Tank not only survives, but continues to grow.

Come see the new spot at our celebratory fundraiser tonight from 7-9pm. You can get tickets — or just show your support — at http://www.thetanknyc.org/?q=content/speakeasy

While our community is strong, our performances lively, and audiences expanding, these are troubled times. The New York State Council on the Arts, for example, has had to freeze grant money it already pledged to arts organizations — including $9,000 that had already been awarded our home for emerging performers and new works.

We’re hosting this fundraiser because in the middle of economic turmoil, support from our friends and our community can help us through. Our goal is to raise $9,000 next Tuesday — in increments of $50 (more if you can, less if you can’t) — and to have a good time doing it.

Join the fun: http://www.thetanknyc.org/?q=content/speakeasy

Come be part of “The Great Anti-Depression: A Speakeasy In Support of The Tank.” We can’t let this new Depression get us down. So we’ll have burlesque, music, film, comedy and trapeze to lift our spirits; free-flowing booze to lift your alcohol level; and good company at a great space to lift The Tank to new heights.

Tuesday, April 7th – 7-9pm
The Tank – 354 West 45th Street
between 8th & 9th Avenues

The Tank continues to provide a home for shows that don’t find other natural habitats, for conversations that want to exist outside of the commercial pressures that tend to govern New York.

Help us continue that mission.
